Minimizing and Simplifying Treatments for Pulmonary Conditions

Treating pulmonary disease has been notoriously complicated – both in terms of complex medication regimens and major surgical interventions. Our pulmonary research team is developing new ways to simplify medication administration and explore minimally invasive surgical techniques to achieve better outcomes – all while easing the burden on patients.

A Focus on Clinical Trials

Working with in-house investigators, industry sponsors and government organizations, our pulmonary research team is involved with a wide variety of study efforts.

We’re currently focused on the following clinical trials:

  • IMPACT Trial: Testing the inhalation of three medications simultaneously through one device once a day to manage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • NAVIGATE Trial: Monitoring the efficacy of electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy (ENB) in facilitating the early diagnosis of specific nodules within the lungs
  • VAST Trial: Exploring how to prevent prolonged air leaks resulting from surgery

Research is also being conducted in many other areas, including sleeping disorders, asthma, genetic lung diseases, organ transplant complications, pleural disease, rheumatologic disorder complications and interstitial lung disease.

Our pulmonary researh team has the patients, pathology and infrastructure required to run trials of all sizes and complexities. Sponsors choose to work with us for a variety of reasons, including the competency of our primary investigators.

Research is deeply embedded within Atrium Health, and this is evident through the expertise, experience and dedication of our pulmonary research team.
