Atrium Health Expands Virtual Visits to Include Pediatric Care
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 2, 2020 – Atrium Health Virtual Visits will now be available for patients of all ages – from birth through adulthood. Virtual visits are fast and convenient options for care, available 24 hours a day, and accessible from a tablet or smartphone. By offering pediatric virtual care, Atrium Health will help parents save time and money by treating their children’s common conditions virtually.
Atrium Health is one of the first healthcare systems in the region to provide this unique type of pediatric virtual care for children under the age of two. Users can also schedule an appointment with a dedicated Levine Children’s provider for newborns through the age of 17 for more specialized care.
When using a virtual visit, care is given through a live, face-to-face video visit with a medical provider. Adults can be seen for several minor illnesses including but not limited to cold or flu-like symptoms, seasonal allergies, pink eye, minor skin issues, or urinary tract infections. With the new pediatric services for younger children, virtual care will also be available for common conditions such as poison ivy, ringworm, eczema, newborn rashes, colds, allergies, and pink eye. Prescriptions can also be issued and are usually sent to the preferred pharmacy within the hour.
Virtual visits can be easily accessed on a smartphone, tablet, or video-enabled computer. There’s no appointment necessary, costs are given upfront and users do not have to be an existing patient to receive care. They can be accessed by anyone in North or South Carolina anytime, day or night, seven days a week.
