About Me
Ms. Brunson completed her undergraduate studies at Lander University in Greenwood, SC. There she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. While enrolled at Lander University, Ms. Brunson was involved in various student organizations. She received an invitation and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society through which she participated in various community service projects. Ms. Brunson was also involved in their Student Nurse Association and held various leadership roles within the organization.
Upon graduating from Lander University, Ms. Brunson worked as a Registered Nurse, mainly in the acute care setting, initially as a staff nurse, and later as a Travel Nurse. She has traveled to various locations while working in the travel nursing industry, including South Carolina, California, West Virginia, Minnesota, District of Columbia, and Georgia.
Ms. Brunson earned her Master of Science in Nursing-Education from Winston Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC. While completing her final semester of graduate school, she accepted an adjunct position at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences in the Associate Degree in Nursing department. Shortly after graduation she was offered a fulltime position and began in August 2010. In 2011, Ms. Brunson was asked to assist as Advisor of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and accepted. In 2012, she transitioned to the role as a Course Coordinator in the Nursing Department. Ms. Brunson has continued to serve in this role since 2012.
Ms. Brunson chose to expand her career path by furthering her studies at Duke University in Durham, NC. She received her Post Master’s Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner in August 2015. Ms. Brunson was awarded privilege to practice by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners upon successful completion of the certification examination in February 2017.
Outside of Cabarrus College, Ms. Brunson enjoys using her knowledge, gifts, and talents related to health with the members of her community through her involvement in her church’s Health Ministry. She also enjoys spending time with her family.
