  • The program curriculum prepares graduates with the essential psychomotor proficiencies, cognitive knowledge, and affective behaviors required to function as entry level surgical technologists.
  • The program';s master curriculum is in compliance with the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • The curriculum prepares graduates with the cognitive knowledge necessary to pass the National Examination for the Certified Surgical Technologist administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Expected Outcomes

  • Program graduates are able to function as competent entry-level surgical technologists.
  • 90 percent of students receive a score of 80 percent or greater on:
    • written exams
    • psychomotor skills
    • affective evaluations
  • One hundred percent of students will meet AST Clinical Case Requirements (as defined in Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology, sixth ed.)
  • The curriculum for the School of Surgical Technology is in 100 percent compliance with standards outlined by the accrediting agency (CAAHEP).
  • First-time certification pass rates are at or above 90 percent.
