Medical Student Rotations

The Department of Family Medicine hosts third-year students from Wake Forest University School of Medicine for the longitudinal Family Medicine Clerkship. Fourth-year students have five opportunities for family medicine experiences in the inpatient or outpatient settings. A popular one-month acting internship (AI) is offered to students from within or outside of the Wake Forest system. In the outpatient setting, we offer one-month electives in procedures, geriatrics, integrative medicine and urban underserved. The rotations are an excellent opportunity to learn more about the program, faculty and residents on a firsthand basis.

At Carolinas Medical Center, residents are actively involved in the education of the third- and fourth-year medical students, primarily from Wake Forest University School of Medicine Charlotte, but also from other medical schools across the country as they rotate through the pediatrics, internal medicine, OB/GYN and emergency medicine services.

Wingate pharmacy students also rotate through our clinic and on our inpatient service in Monroe.
