Dr. Wilson is board certified in interventional cardiology. His clinical interests include angina and chest pain, coronary stents and acute myocardial infarction.
Dr. Wilson is executive vice chair of Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute and a clinical professor of medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is president of the American College of Cardiology and the former chief of cardiology at Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute.
For multiple years, Dr. Wilson has been named a Best Doctor by Business North Carolina Magazine and a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine. He is recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for heart and stroke care.
He received his bachelor’s degree with honors at Davidson College and his medical degree at Duke University. He completed residency at Vanderbilt University, where he served as chief resident and completed a fellowship in cardiology.
Dr. Wilson has published more than 75 articles on topics including STEMi (segment-elevation myocardial infarction) systems of care, stent technologies and devices for coronary intervention. In addition, he has conducted research on anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapies, and structural and valvular heart disease.
