Biography

“It is rewarding for me to see patients get better because of my work and the work of my colleagues. Knowing that I played a part in a patient’s improvement gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment.”

Ackroyd is a board-certified physician assistant. She specializes in cardiac electrophysiology and inpatient general cardiology.

She has practiced in cardiology since 2012 and is skilled in treating rhythm issues of the heart, including atrial fibrillation and flutter, ventricular tachycardia and sudden cardiac arrest using devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators and loop recorders, among others.

Ackroyd was nominated for an Atrium Health Provider of the Quarter Award in 2019.

She was drawn to cardiology after watching family members become sick and wanting to learn more about how to treat their illnesses and help other people. She feels cardiology is a challenging field that is always evolving and it's exciting to experience it first-hand.

Ackroyd received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Daemen College.

Ackroyd enjoys exploring the different areas of North Carolina, especially the mountains, with her German shepherd named Chance. She also enjoys spending time with friends and visiting family out of state.
