Dr. Blackwell is board certified in psychiatry. She is an attending psychiatrist in the Emergency Department at Atrium Health Behavioral Health, a facility of Carolinas Medical Center.
She was named Atrium Health Provider of the Quarter and was a nominee for an Atrium Health Teal Acorn Career Award.
Dr. Blackwell has always been interested in the brain, how it works and how our minds affect every aspect of our lives. She went to medical school to learn more about how mental illness develops and how it is treated.
She received her medical degree and completed a residency at the University of North Carolina. She followed with a fellowship at North Carolina Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Blackwell, her husband and their daughter enjoy music, outdoor festivals and traveling to the beach and abroad. She loves movies, especially science fiction and horror.
