As chief medical officer, Dr. Herman has been instrumental in helping deliver high-quality care across all pediatric services. As part of the Pediatric Surgical Quality Council, he leads a steering committee responsible for creating an official quality improvement program for Levine Children’s Hospital and Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital. He also leads an initiative to centralize the provider peer-review process as well as standardize practices across the pediatric enterprise for Atrium Health. A practicing neonatologist, he is also working to re-engineer hospital processes to reduce length of stay and to develop integrative telemedicine services to connect pediatric services to all system facilities and referring institutions.
