Biography

“Each morning I come to work thankful for the opportunity to serve our community. I’m committed to improving the quality of life for our patients.”

As a Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute physician, Dr. Maiers serves as the division chief of cardiology and chief of medical specialties at Atrium Health - Pineville. She is especially interested in helping patients with difficult-to-control hypertension, pregnant women with cardiac issues and patients diagnosed with a cardiomyopathy. She specializes in performing and interpreting advanced cardiac imaging modalities.

Both of her parents were engineers, and she always felt that being a cardiologist is like being an engineer for one of the most important organs in the body. Multiple generations of her family have suffered from cardiovascular issues, so she has dedicated her life to helping others who are facing similar challenges.

Dr. Maiers earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency at Duke University and fellowship with a master’s degree at Wake Forest University.

Dr. Maiers has also conducted research that aims to improve care. For instance, she has studied how coronary artery calcium scores can be used to predict the likelihood of stroke and heart attack in low to intermediate-risk patients.

Outside of work, she and her family enjoy boating, tubing and swimming at Lake Wylie. When she’s not at a Clemson University football game, she enjoys exercising and running with her dog.
