Biography

“I was initially attracted to the science of medicine, but over the years, my relationships with patients and solving their difficult diagnostic or therapeutic problems have provided the most satisfaction.”

Dr. Packman is board certified in hematology (blood disorders) and specializes in anemia, abnormal blood cell counts, and clotting and bleeding disorders. He is a professor emeritus at Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute and was named a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine.

Dr. Packman received his medical degree at Louisiana State University and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Rochester.

When he’s not working, Dr. Packman loves spending time with his family, which includes his wife, their children and spouses, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. His hobbies include woodturning, reading biographies and histories, traveling, listening to and attending jazz, opera and classical music concerts, choral singing and teaching Sunday school.
