“I enjoy working in vascular surgery because I get to see a patient at diagnosis, through surgery and again at follow-up to observe their progression. Vascular surgery also allows me to educate patients on health initiatives to better improve the quality and longevity of their lives.”

Mahar is a board-certified physician assistant. She specializes in vascular surgery, including treatment for peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms and ruptures.

She became a physician assistant after undergoing several knee surgeries with a PA as her primary provider. Her PA was compassionate and knowledgeable, and Mahar decided then that she wanted to provide the same level of care to her patients. Making patients feel comfortable and at ease is something Mahar strives for with everyone she treats.

She received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at LeMoyne College.

When she’s not working, Mahar enjoys spending time working out or being outdoors kayaking, hiking or backpacking with her fiancé and their dogs. She also enjoys reading, primarily mystery novels, and she recently started refinishing furniture.
