“I do my job because I want to help people facing critical illness. As challenging as my field can be, I am motivated by the desire to help patients and families during some of the darkest times of their lives. Providing care to some of the sickest patients is both a challenge and reward.”
Lorenz is a board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner. She has a clinical interest in the management of critical illnesses, including respiratory failure, shock states, cardiac and neurologic emergencies, and sepsis/infectious diseases. As an advanced practice provider (APP), Lorenz cares for patients with complex cardiac, neurologic, hematologic and medical conditions.
She was named Unit Nurse of the Year in the neuroscience intensive care unit (ICU) at Tampa General Hospital and received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Florida State University College of Nursing.
She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Florida State University and her master’s in nursing at the University of South Florida. She was drawn to the ICU because of the need for critical thinking and attention to detail.
When she’s not working, Lorenz enjoys spending time with her husband and dog. Her hobbies include reading, running, hiking and spending time outdoors.
