Jennifer Ford, LCMHC
- Psychology
“I have a passion for mental health and social justice reform, eliminating stigma, increasing access and meeting the world’s most vulnerable populations right where they are. My goal is to treat the whole person mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. By empowering each person to learn the tools and skills necessary to make lasting changes, I work to create a non-judgmental, safe and warm space.”
Ford is trained in pediatric psychology and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. Her practice areas include trauma, child and adolescent therapy, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-injury, high-risk behaviors, women's issues, parent-child conflict, life transitions, underserved and marginalized populations and perinatal mental health therapy. She also focuses on assessment measures.
One of her first jobs was at an adolescent unit in a residential treatment facility. Seeing the struggles the children faced motivated Ford to seek more training and experience to serve this population and become an agent for social change.
Ford received her master’s degree in mental health counseling at Walden University. She holds full licensure in North Carolina as a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) and in Virginia, Texas and Colorado as a licensed professional counselor.
Away from work, she loves spending time with her husband and their 2 sons. She considers herself a homebody and enjoys interior design, home staging, movies, board games and trying new allergy-friendly recipes. She credits her faith and church involvement for helping to keep her grounded.
