Dr. Symanski is board certified in cardiology. He specializes in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and the care of athletic and highly active individuals.
He is the director of Atrium Health Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute’s Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center of Excellence and co-director of the Sports Cardiology Center.
Dr. Symanski joined Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute in 1998. His practice has included echocardiographic imaging, critical care cardiology and outpatient cardiovascular care.
He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the American Society of Echocardiology (FASE).
Dr. Symanski received his master’s degree in exercise physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then received his medical degree and completed an internship and residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was chief resident. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
