Newman is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and certified diabetes educator. She specializes in maternal and fetal medicine and treating diabetes in pregnancy.
She was a top finalist for the Atrium Health Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year.
She has always had an interest in diabetes in pregnancy. She started out as a nurse in the obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) high-risk unit. Having gestational diabetes twice gave her even more of a passion to help manage diabetes in pregnancy and make it a better experience for patients.
She received her master’s degree in nursing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Newman is married and has 2 sons and a poodle, Marley. She enjoys cooking and reading mystery novels. She also loves hiking, vacationing at national parks, interval training, long-distance running, and she has completed 2 half marathons.
