Smitha Vilasagar, MD is a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon at Atrium Health Women's Care Urogynecology & Pelvic Surgery. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

She earned her medical degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. She then completed her residency and fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Chronic Pelvic Pain/Endometriosis treatment at the University of Rochester.

During residency and fellowship training, Dr. Vilasagar presented multiple oral, video and poster presentations at national conferences. She was awarded first place winner of Residency Laparoscopic Olympics Simulation Competition, and received the AAGL Special Resident in Minimally Invasive Gynecology Award.

Dr. Vilasagar provides care for patients requiring minimally invasive surgery for a variety of reasons such as endometriosis, adenomyosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, dysmenorrhea, infertility, and fibroids. She performs multiple surgical procedures for treatment of chronic pelvic pain, sacrospinous ligament transection for treatment of pudendal neuralgia, ovarian vein ligation for treatment of pelvic congestion syndrome, vestibulectomy with vaginal advancement for treatment of vulvodynia, pelvic floor Botox injections for treatment of pelvic floor tension myalgia, as well as outpatient procedures such as trigger point injections and nerve blocks.

Dr. Vilasagar is a member of American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, International Pelvic Pain Society, and American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She was recently awarded the AAGL Best Surgical Video on Pelvic Pain at the 45th AAGL Global Congress for her video titled "Laparoscopic Ovarian Vein Ligation for the Treatment of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome."

Patients experiencing dysmenorrhea, vulvar/vaginal pain, dyspareunia, and pelvic pain of myofascial origin can be referred to Dr. Vilasagar at the Women's Center for Pelvic Health CMC Mercy location.
