Biography

“I like the educational aspect of my job. Patients need resources to empower them to improve their condition. Rarely is one medication or one injection going to resolve an issue. I’m a big believer in optimizing diet, exercise and mental health to maintain a healthy body.”

Dr. Rissmiller is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, as well as sports medicine. She has a clinical interest in non-opioid and non-surgical management of musculoskeletal pain, which includes muscle, joint and nerve pain. She also has a special interest in evaluating patients with impaired balance and works with them to minimize fall risk. She is skilled at doing trigger-point injections for myofascial pain. She does botulinum toxin injections for spasticity related to stroke, brain injury or cerebral palsy. She is the medical director for the Atrium Health Department of Physical Therapy.

She has been recognized numerous times as a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine.

Dr. Rissmiller received her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and completed a residency at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

She is married to a physician and has 2 children, 2 dogs and 3 reptiles. When she’s not working, Dr. Rissmiller enjoys working out, watching college football and going inshore and offshore fishing with her family.
