“All people suffer from some kind of mental health challenge at some point in their lives, the same way all people experience challenges to their physical health over the course of their lives. My reward comes from working with patients as they confront, and often overcome, those challenges.”

Dr. Gray is board certified in general and forensic psychiatry. She specializes in patients with severe and persistent mental illness. She is the program director for the Sandra and Leon Levine Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.

She has a brother with a severe and persistent mental illness and has experienced firsthand the nature of mental illness and why it’s important for patients and their families to receive compassionate and understanding treatment. She likes to educate her patients on leading a healthy life from a holistic perspective, which considers mind, body and spirit.

In the past, she has enjoyed working with marginalized populations and educating the court system about mental illness.

She received her medical degree at Columbia University and completed a residency and fellowship at New York University, which includes training at Bellevue Hospital (formerly known as Bellevue Hospital Center).

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her parents, her brother and her daughter, who is on the autism spectrum and has greatly changed Dr. Gray’s life. Her favorite activities are cuddling, singing, and laughing with her daughter, taking long walks with her family, visiting her best friend since age 6 in Atlanta and escaping into science fiction or crime novels and TV shows.
