Atrium Health Levine’s Children’s Virtual Clinic for Schools

Pediatricians at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Shelby Children’s Clinic partnered with Cleveland County Public Health Center and Cleveland County Schools to develop a school-based virtual clinic for students within Graham Elementary School for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The clinic improves students’ access to local pediatricians. While students remain in school, physicians diagnose and treat medical concerns. Since the program started, children at participating schools have been more likely to see care in a primary care setting than going to the emergency room. For parents, the program offers convenience and peace of mind, knowing their child has access to quality medical care where and when it’s needed.

The school-based virtual clinic has expanded throughout Cleveland County and into Lincoln County following nearly $1 million in grant funding from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and Kohl’s.

Watch the video below to see how the virtual clinic has impacted the community in Shelby, NC.
