Scholarship Pilot

Atrium Health is partnering with Novant Health to pilot an economic mobility program for certified nurse aides (CNAs) interested in becoming Registered Nurses (RNs) to support internal advancement and improved financial well-being among team members.

This scholarship program pilot will provide incumbent CNAs up to two years of upfront coverage for tuition and fees (including books and other required materials) to an approved nursing program leading to licensure as a RN.

Economic Mobility Efforts

Atrium Health Human Resources supports economic mobility efforts through compensation and benefit plan design, including health, 401(k), paid time off, and an Emergency Care Fund. Atrium Health is a founding member of the national Health Career Pathways Network and works closely with Charlotte Works to bring workforce, economic development, educational and industry partners to the same table, aligning the workforce system by strengthening partnerships, guiding policy and promoting career pathways.

In addition, Atrium Health has raised its minimum starting rate every year since 2012. As of 2025, North and South Carolina teammates earn at least $11.25 per hour more than the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. Other compensation and benefits include performance plus incentives, key engagement awards and personal and professional education for all teammates.
