After the Storm: Transitioning to Breast Cancer Survivorship January 2025
Description
After the Storm is a group for Breast Cancer Survivors post-treatment. It is focused on providing evidenced based information on lifestyle factors that contribute to overall well-being and that may reduce the risk of cancer recurrence. Survivors meet together to offer emotional and social support while adjusting to life after treatment. Group members participate both virtually and in-person at Union West.
Please note, this group typically meets every other month on odd months.
This month we will not have virtual participation as we will be visiting in person at Core Compassion Project (4705 Indian Trail Fairview Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079). Core Compassion Project® is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2012 in North Carolina by Jill Hinson. Core Compassion Project provides services to men and women breast cancer patients and survivors through its scholarship programs. Through the generosity of Core Compassion Project’s donors, we are able to offer The Pilates Program, which provides ten one on one Pilates sessions with a qualified and approved instructor to help recipients strengthen and heal in mind, body, and spirit. Donations also support The Lymphedema Program which provides medical compression sleeves for those who have been diagnosed with, or are at risk for, lymphedema as well as the Bra Program which provides specialized fitness bras for those who have experienced difficulties following surgery for breast cancer.
