This support group is a safe space where you can share your experiences, find encouragement, and connect with others who understand what you're going through as a care partner caring for a loved one diagnosed with cancer.

Please note that participating in this support group does not establish an individual case management relationship with the facilitator. This support group is based in Charlotte, individuals from outside the area may have access to different programs and services, the facilitator reserves the right to engage the patient's clinical team for ongoing support needs.

Instructors

Audrey Sherman

Audrey Sherman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Levine Cancer Institute with 11 years of pediatric and adult oncology experience. She holds the Oncology of Social Work certification and is a member of the Association of Oncology Social Workers. Her clinical practice includes helping patients and families navigate the challenges of having a cancer diagnosis while providing practical resources aimed at improving their wellbeing.

Spiritual Care

Who seeks Spiritual Care? Anyone experiencing spiritual/emotional distress.

  • Processing a new diagnosis?
  • Struggling with issues about the meaning of their life or life events
  • Feeling punished, abandoned, or angry at God
  • No longer finding meaning or connection in their spiritual practices
  • Distress over their loss of "normality"
  • Issues navigating the caregiver/care-receiver relationship


How care is provided: The chaplain can respond, in person, to requests for support within any clinic at LCI Morehead, during normal clinic hours. Additionally, the chaplain can meet over the phone.

Advance Directives

Advance Directives

Advance directives are legal documents that outline your medical and end of life preferences to ensure your healthcare wishes are honored. You can pick up the paperwork in our Cancer Resource Center on the 3rd floor of LCI 2 near the main entrance.


These forms can be completed at home but must be notarized and witnessed, you can use any notary, we can assist if needed. We have the NC and SC forms available in English and Spanish.
