- Newborn Care
- Breastfeeding Basics
Classes are held In Person and Virtually via TEAMS.
Please plan to schedule this class so that you will complete the class by your 34th-37th week of pregnancy if possible.

This class covers topics like:
*Pregnancy changes
*Labor vs. Pre-Labor vs. False Labor
*Contraction monitoring
*Labor process and stages of labor
*Complications / Warning signs
*Includes an in person tour of Atrium Health Union West at 5:30pm with class following tour

FEBRUARY 6th-6:00pm
This class covers topics like:
*Medical interventions
*Induction processes
*Cesarean section
*Epidural and/or other pain control options
*Physical comfort measures
*Physical comfort techniques
*Physical support measures
- 3 - Post Partum Care at Atrium Union
FEBRUARY 11th-6:00pm
This class covers the following topics:
*Maternal post partum care while in hospital and after discharge
*Hormone changes in post partum
*Baby blues
*Post partum mood disorders
*Warning signs
*Dad and baby
*Includes an in person tour of Atrium Health Union at 5:30pm with class following tour.

FEBRUARY 13th-6:00pm
This class covers the following topics:
*Newborn care while in hospital and after discharge
*APGAR scores
*Newborn appearances
*Newborn medications / vaccines
*Newborn bathing
*Newborn testing
*Baby communication
- 5 - Breastfeeding Basics at Atrium Union
FEBRUARY 18th-6:00pm
This class covers the following topics:
*How Breastfeeding works
*How to Establish a Good Milk Supply
*How to Help Your Baby Latch
*How to Position Your Baby for Breastfeeding
*Is Your Baby Getting Enough Milk
You’ll also learn when and where to get breastfeeding help if you need it, both at the hospital and when you go home. Learning the basics of breastfeeding and starting off with a positive attitude will help you have a better experience breastfeeding your baby!
