An internationally known researcher in developmental brain disorders, Dr. Bonthius leads the division of child neurology, which diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of neurological disorders. With grants from the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, Dr. Bonthius has led numerous research studies that have focused principally on neurologic birth defects induced by viral infections and environmental toxins. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. His research laboratory currently focuses on injury to the developing brain induced by lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus. A national leader in child neurology, he is Editor-in-Chief of the Child Neurology Society’s publication, Connections, and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Child Neurology.
