Dr. DeSantis is board certified in family medicine and is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. She specializes in treating diabetes, asthma and likes to perform office procedures such as joint injections.
She was awarded Intern of the Year from the Health One Center for Health Sciences Family Medicine training program at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado and more recently Clinical Preceptor of the Year for the UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine, by the North Carolina chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. DeSantis has helped publish articles on diabetes management with Atrium Health’s Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation department and Elizabeth Family Medicine residency program’s research department on the efficacy of an embedded clinical pharmacist in reducing the average hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) for at risk populations.
She received her degree in osteopathic medicine at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
She is married with 2 grown children. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, cooking and just started to learn how to play golf. She also is heavily involved with advocacy work for health care equity and finance reform.
