“Older adults deserve respect and high-quality medical care. Geriatric medicine offers me the opportunity to provide care to older adults in a way that matches their goals and supports their families.”
Dr. Anthony Caprio is board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine and hospice and palliative medicine (symptom management and end-of-life care). He focuses on geriatric oncology (cancer) and palliative medicine.
Medical care of older adults offers unique challenges and rewards. Dr. Caprio is gratified to see how sometimes small changes can greatly improve the health and quality of life for patients.
He serves as the vice chair and section chief of education for the Department of Supportive Oncology at Atrium Health Levine Cancer. He has received an Atrium Health Teacher of the Year Award in the Department of Family Medicine and was named a Top Doctor by Charlotte magazine.
Dr. Caprio’s research focuses on geriatric oncology.
He received his medical degree at the University at Buffalo. He completed residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the University of Rochester.
Away from work, he enjoys spending time with his family, going for nature walks, visiting the beach and playing or listening to music.
