Biography
Dr. Ashley Cole practices obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN). She focuses on inpatient obstetric care, including high risk obstetric conditions such as preeclampsia and diabetes. She specializes in emergent gynecologic care, including ectopic pregnancy, ovarian torsion and miscarriage. She also has expertise in the management of stillbirth, preterm birth and fetal growth restriction.
Dr. Cole spent several years working in Southern Africa on women’s health programs. She enjoys teaching students and residents and has received several teaching awards in recognition of her dedication to medical education.
She received her bachelor’s degree at Boston University, after which she obtained a master’s degree in public health (MPH) at Emory University. She received her medical degree at the University of North Carolina, where she also completed residency.
Dr. Cole is a loyal Tar Heel. She and her husband, a long-time teacher in the North Carolina school system, have 2 children. The family’s favorite activities include traveling and celebrating their favorite holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween.
