Biography

“When I am at the bedside of a patient, even at some of the toughest moments of their lives, this is where I feel called to be. The choices are complex, but I see clarity where others may see chaos. My goal is to impart that clarity to my patients and give them hope that we will find a way through their challenges.”

Dr. Ragon is board certified in internal medicine, oncology and hematology (cancer and blood disorders). She specializes in hematology-oncology, including leukemia, bone marrow failure syndromes and stem cell transplantation.

Dr. Ragon is an assistant professor and a leukemia and transplant specialist in the Department of Hematologic Oncology and Blood Disorders at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute. She has been named a North Carolina Top Doctor from Business North Carolina and has received the Leukemia Research Foundation New Investigator Award.

She began her career in biosystems engineering. When she observed the relationship between her mentor and a cancer patient, she became inspired to maximize her analytical skills in direct patient care.

Dr. Ragon’s research focuses on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). She has led, participated in and authored several early phase clinical trials for novel therapies. Her work also includes using informatics to explore genetic conditions that affect patient outcomes. She has obtained grant funding from the Leukemia Research Foundation and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), among others.

She received her medical degree at the University of South Carolina. She completed residency at Vanderbilt University and a fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
