Biography

“I was inspired by the strength and courage of pediatric patients in a local hospital when I volunteered in a Big Brother/Big Sister program in college. I was amazed at how resilient these children were.”

Dr. Weaver is the medical director of pediatric dialysis and board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. He is a clinical associate professor of pediatrics and was named a Top Doctor by Charlotte Magazine.

He specializes in pediatric kidney disease and hypertension and is conducting research in the cardiovascular health of children with chronic kidney disease. Additionally, he is involved in evaluating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in pediatric patients as well as acute kidney injury in patients infected with COVID-19.

He received his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed his residency in pediatrics at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. He followed that with a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and earned his doctorate in microbiology at the University of Illinois.
