“I believe the most selfless act a person can provide is to help others through life's toughest times. Working with children requires making medicine fun and easy to understand. I ultimately want to help children get back on their feet so they may live happy and healthy lives.”
Elizabeth Schurick is a board-certified physician assistant. She focuses on pediatric stem cell transplants and hematology-oncology (blood disorders and cancer).
Her background as a pediatric nurse’s aide is what initially made her fall in love with pediatrics. Similarly, through her advanced training, Schurick learned how fulfilling it is to provide specialized care for children. She also values the meaningful relationships that develop between the provider, patients and the patient's loved ones.
She has completed research on the Long-Term Effects of Chronic Methylphenidate Use in Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Schurick received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical technology at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, where she graduated summa cum laude. She received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Albany Medical College, where she graduated magna cum laude.
The New York State native spends her free time catching up with family and friends, exploring new places, going to the beach and watching cooking shows. She played volleyball for more than 10 years, and it has remained her favorite sport.
