Biography
“I chose inpatient pediatrics because I appreciate the variety of patients I get to help take care of. I love helping patients and families through some of their scariest times when they are admitted to a hospital. I love helping them understand what is going on with their child, and then being a part of their team as they improve.”
Dr. Brooks is board certified in pediatrics and specializes in pediatric hospital medicine. She is the site-based medical director for inpatient pediatrics at Atrium Health Cabarrus.
She received her medical degree at the University of North Carolina and completed residency at Northwestern University.
Dr. Brooks has been involved in research related to bronchiolitis, including acting as primary investigator for a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) drug trial. She has completed quality improvement work related to inpatient processes, such as patient and family satisfaction, decreasing hospital-associated infections and improving sepsis outcomes. She has been involved in medical education, including training medical students, residents and physician assistant students.
When not working, Dr. Brooks enjoys spending time with her husband and children. They love to travel, explore anything outdoors and play sports together, especially soccer.
