Biography

“I enjoy caring for infants and their families in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and helping families navigate their NICU experience.”

Dr. Clarke-Pounder is board certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine (newborn babies). Her clinical interests include congenital anomalies, including congenital heart disease, extreme prematurity, extremely low birth weight infants, palliative care and family support.

She received her undergraduate degree in biology at the College of Charleston and her medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Clarke-Pounder focused her fellowship research on quality improvement as well as family communication in the NICU.
