Biography
“I am a visionary with a passion for education, research, evidence-based practice, holistic care, empowered birthing, breastfeeding and preventive medicine. I love what I do because I can be the change I want to see in health care. I believe if you can have a positive impact on a person during their pregnancy journey, you can impact the lifelong health of the family.”
Katrina George is a certified nurse midwife and advance practice provider (APP) providing support and guidance during pregnancy, labor, delivery and the postpartum period. She also provides lactation support for new mothers. She believes that understanding a person’s values, needs, fears and barriers leads to quality collaborative care.
While working as a neonatal intensive care nurse, she obtained her international board certification as a lactation consultant. As a labor and delivery nurse, George received the DAISY Award for excellence in nursing multiple times.
George received her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Central Florida. She received her master’s degree in nursing and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at Frontier Nursing University.
Her research interests include the management of perinatal depression and anxiety during pregnancy. She has studied how simplifying the intake process and increasing the frequency of depression screenings improves patient outcomes and increases patient and staff satisfaction with the management process.
She is married to her undergraduate sweetheart. Outside of work, she teaches nurse-midwifery students and loves reading a good dystopian or mystery book. Her favorite activities include cooking, running, writing poetry, swimming, gardening and enjoying time at the park with her family.
