Biography

“I started my doctoral work studying sports performance and human movement, and realized my passion was in helping people with significant injuries that could have a life-long impact on their ability to do the things that give them purpose or joy. To help patients fully recover, we have to treat the whole person and not just their broken bones. We need to help address those needs outside of a patient’s injury that impact a patient’s recovery."

Laura Zdziarski-Horodyski is a board-certified physician assistant who holds a doctoral degree. She specializes in orthopedic surgery and trauma.

Her passion for her specialty began when her mother sustained a severe orthopedic injury and had a less than ideal experience. Zdziarski-Horodyski’s goal is to help ensure others do not have to experience what her mother went through.

She received her bachelor’s degree in athletic training at Roanoke College and her physician assistant training at the University of Utah. She received her doctorate (PhD) at the University of Florida.

Zdziarski-Horodyski’s research interests include pre-hospital care for spine injuries and physical function and psychological outcomes following orthopedic trauma.

She and her husband love spending time outdoors with their 2 rescue dogs. They love hiking, kayaking and paddle boarding. She also loves to build and refinish furniture, and her projects include her dining room table, entertainment center with barn doors and front porch swing.
