Lisa H. Nona, DNP

“I chose women’s health because there is not a more rewarding career. I find value in helping a woman be the healthiest she can be.”

Nona is the director of advanced practice in the Women's Service Line at Atrium Health. She is a board-certified nurse midwife. She was awarded Atrium Health’s Teal Acorn Award for Advanced Practice Provider Leader of the Year.

Before becoming a nurse midwife, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse where her passion for women's health started. What she enjoys most about being a nurse midwife is the ability to offer women the tools and guidance they need to make medical decisions.

Building relationships with her patients and taking a collaborative approach to their healthcare needs is a philosophy that was inspired by Nona’s late sister. Her sister struggled with Type 1 diabetes and died at age 40 from complications of the disease. Nona hopes to honor her sister's life by providing compassionate care and equipping women with the knowledge they need to make informed healthcare decisions.

She received her midwifery training and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University.

A native to the Charlotte area, she’s married with 3 daughters and 4 “fur babies.” In her spare time, she loves outdoor activities, traveling (especially to the Caribbean) and cheering on the Carolina Panthers – she’s been a season ticket holder since the early 2000s!
