“Every patient is someone's mother, father, sibling, aunt, uncle or friend. I try to treat my patients the way I would want my loved ones to be treated, with the same level of dignity and diligence.”
Dr. Megan Sears-Smith is board certified in internal medicine. She focuses on hematology and medical oncology (blood disorders and cancer).
She is passionate about developing relationships with patients during their journeys through diagnosis and treatment. Because the science of oncology is rapidly changing, she values the opportunities to continually study and stay up to date.
Dr. Sears-Smith has research interests in lymphoma and health care disparities, particularly within the adolescent and young adult patient populations.
She received her degree in osteopathic medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed residency in internal medicine at The University of Tennessee and a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute.
Outside of work, Dr. Sears-Smith enjoys watercolor painting, reading historical nonfiction books and spending time with her husband, son and 2 dogs. They especially like to stroll along the greenways in Charlotte and go hiking in the mountains.
