“After 25 years in primary care, I wanted to focus my training and skills on the understanding of cancer and management of risks for cancer through the cancer genetics lens. I do this work because I have a desire to educate patients so they can be their own health advocates.”
Dr. Richardson is board certified in internal medicine and specializes in cancer genetics. He is the associate medical director of the Genetics Department at Atrium Health’s Levine Cancer Institute.
Dr. Richardson has been repeatedly recognized by Business North Carolina as a North Carolina Top Doctor.
He received his undergraduate degree in chemistry and his medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.
When not working, Dr. Richardson is deeply involved in supporting his community through volunteerism. He is the director of a philanthropic foundation and serves as a senior program officer in healthcare. He provides mentoring and support for a scholarship program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is a supporter of the performing arts in Charlotte, NC.
