Biography

“I love the opportunity to support, guide and nurture a child’s growth and development, along with providing a framework for positive mental health and wellness.”

Dr. Nguyen is a board-certified pediatrician with a special interest in mental and emotional wellness.

She’s a fellow at both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the North Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She’s a member of the Charlotte Pediatric Society and a board member of Baby Bundles.

Dr. Nguyen was named a Best Pediatrician by Charlotte Smarty Pants.

Dr. Nguyen grew up in a family of artists and business owners and never considered a career in medicine. All that changed when her 30-year-old sister was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Dr. Nguyen saw that her sister felt most comforted by the doctors who took the time to explain her treatment in an honest, loving way.

“Observing differences in how a doctor’s style of communication, empathy and bedside manner could significantly impact a patient’s experience in a positive or negative way was extraordinary,” says Dr. Nguyen. “From that time forward, I was inspired to become a doctor and make a positive difference in a person’s life, even in the smallest way.”

Along with co-authoring several articles that were published in scientific journals, Dr. Nguyen did clinical research at Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Dr. Nguyen earned her medical degree from The George Washington University. She completed her internship year at Children’s Hospital Oakland and the remainder of her pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center, where she served as associate chief resident.

Married with 2 children, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, indulging in great food and wine, listening to live music, dancing and watching movies or plays.
