Dr. Lopez is board certified in internal medicine with a certificate of added qualifications in sports medicine. His focus is on comprehensive and holistic care of adult patients of all ages. With his expertise in sports medicine, he also has an interest in disease and injury prevention.
He chose internal medicine because he enjoys the versatility and investigative nature of medicine. Dr. Lopez chose sports medicine because he has a passion for improving health and wellness in athletes and high-performing individuals and an interest in musculoskeletal diagnoses, treatments and procedures.
Prior to joining Atrium Health, Dr. Lopez worked at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He received his degree in osteopathic medicine at Rowan University. He completed residency in internal medicine, where he was selected as chief resident. Dr. Lopez then completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Atlantic Sports Health, in affiliation with the New York Jets.
Dr. Lopez is married. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking and fitness, specifically boxing and hiking.
