Biography

Dr. Teich is board certified in general, pediatric and critical care surgery at Atrium Health Levine Children's General Surgery Charlotte. He specializes in pediatric gastrointestinal motility (muscle contraction) and is an adjunct professor in the Department of Surgery and Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Teich has been listed in Best Doctors in America annually for a number of years.
He is one of only two pediatric surgeons in the country to place gastric stimulators for the treatment of gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying) in adolescents. He performs sacral nerve stimulation to treat urinary and fecal incontinence and was the first person in the world to use sacral nerve stimulation to treat pediatric patients with fecal incontinence after imperforate anus repair.
Additionally, he initiated an FDA trial of esophageal stimulation for gastro-esophageal reflux disease in adults. Dr. Teich has presented his motility work to the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the North American Neuromodulation Society and multiple international meetings.
He received his medical degree at the State University of New York and completed a residency at The George Washington University. Dr. Teich followed that with a fellowship at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
He loves traveling and spending time with his wife and 3 boys. He also enjoys reading American history, especially about the Revolutionary War.
