Biography

“I love my job as much today as I did in the beginning of my career. I find such reward in the relationships with patients and families that occur over the course of treating a chronic illness. I strive to help children not identify themselves by their illnesses and accomplish all they can.”

Dr. Massengill is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology (the study of the kidneys). She has a clinical interest in kidney transplants and the diagnosis and treatment of glomerular disease (affecting the filtering ability of the kidneys), nephrotic syndrome (causing too much protein in the urine) and lupus (an inflammatory disease). She has conducted research on both glomerular disease and nephrotic syndrome.

Atrium Health has honored her with the Pinnacle Award and Charlotte magazine awarded her with a Top Doctor distinction. She has also obtained a ranking for pediatric nephrology with U.S. News & World Report.

She received her medical degree and completed a residency at East Carolina University.

Dr. Massengill has 2 children, a son who works in residential real estate and a daughter who is also in medicine. When not working, she enjoys cooking different cuisines and being outdoors, biking and hiking. She also loves suspenseful books and movies, and travelling with friends and family.
