Our research answers timely clinical and care delivery questions to guide health system decisions and advance population health. Current areas of research include:
The Research Transforming Healthcare initiative has three goals. First, we aim to link research methods and outcomes expertise to define better care. Second, we encourage investigators to form multidisciplinary partnerships. Finally, we aim to link investigators with the resources needed to undertake innovative studies. To implement these objectives, the program provides ready access to services and facilities, organizes workshops and symposia with associated calls for pilot projects, and supports local and national translational research initiatives.
CHASSIS is leading a 5-year study titled, Remote Hypertension Tracking, Help, and Management to improve Blood Pressure (RHYTHM-BP). The study is funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and aims to address disparities in blood pressure control. The study team is recruiting 864 Black patients with uncontrolled blood pressure to compare two ways of managing blood pressure. Half of the patients who join the study will receive a home blood pressure monitor and hypertension education. The other half of patients will receive a home blood pressure monitor, hypertension education and support from a clinical pharmacist and community health worker to help them manage their blood pressure. All patients will continue to see their doctor as usual. After 12 months, the study team will compare blood pressure control between the two groups. This study is designed to help patients and those who care for them make better informed healthcare decisions about blood pressure management.
