The Center for Outcomes Research & Evaluation (CORE) partners with investigators throughout Atrium Health, linking research methods and outcomes expertise to define better care.

CORE has a proven track record of collaborative grant development and publications.

We offer:

• Research methods and analytics from trial design through study closure
• Big data to develop risk models and validate results
• Management and coordination for the collection and storage of data

From feasibility pilots and multisite randomized controlled trials to prototype usability testing, we address a wide range of issues across the spectrum of outcomes research.

Biostatistics

The biostatistics team at CORE supports more than 120 studies annually across various medical specialties. Projects include small, narrowly defined studies to large, multisite clinical trials. We assist investigators with:

• Retrospective and prospective studies
• Grant applications
• Research education for residents and fellows
• Peer-reviewed protocols for research competitions

Our highly trained statisticians support study design and data analysis. They also partner on abstracts, manuscripts and conference presentations.

Survey and Qualitative Research

CORE collaborates on study design, protocol and instrument development, and data collection and analysis.

For studies with qualitative and survey research needs, we offer methods and survey expertise that includes:

• Focus groups
• In-depth and semi-structured interviews
• Ethnography
• Web-based collection of qualitative data
• Survey design and validation
• Online survey administration (via REDCap)
• Survey administration via text messaging

Data Management

Our data analytics experts are experienced in accessing and managing Atrium Health’s vast clinical and billing data. We mine electronic medical record (EMR) data and integrate primary data sources such as patient-provided data to discover care insights that support better, quicker and more effective research.

Our data coordinating center capabilities include:

• Feasibility assessments
• Pre-eligibility screening for subjects
• Primary data collection architecture and data validation
• Data storage and management strategies for multisite trials
