Sierra Wilson is an international board-certified lactation consultant at Atrium Health Levine Children’s University Pediatrics.

Sierra says her interest in the mother-baby bond and the overall satisfaction of helping others inspired her to become a lactation consultant. “I love knowing that I’m helping make someone’s life a bit easier and instilling confidence into a mother during a very vulnerable time.”

A common misconception Sierra says some people have about lactation consultants is that they have a “cookie-cutter” mentality about what breastfeeding should look like. “We meet each parent where their goals are and tailor each plan based on the individual needs of patients.”

Sierra says no matter how challenging the breastfeeding journey may be, she assures all her families that she will be with them every step of the way. “As humans, we can only do what we can and take things one day at a time.”

When Sierra isn’t working with patients, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with loved ones.
