Your Care Team

Your multidisciplinary treatment team will be led by one of our internationally recognized myeloma experts. Depending on your individual needs, your care team may include hematologists, medical and radiation oncologists, as well as specialized pharmacists, advanced care practitioners, clinical and research nurses, dedicated hematopathologists and social workers.

Plus, you’ll have access to a patient navigator who provides personal guidance and assistance through every step of your cancer journey. From scheduling appointments to helping with paperwork, our patient navigators connect you seamlessly to the right resources, so you can focus on getting better.

Advanced Treatment Options

To achieve the best possible outcome, we design a treatment plan based on your specific disease. Your treatment may include a combination of therapies, including:

• Active surveillance, also called watchful waiting, where we regularly monitor your condition and start treatment if your disease progresses. Your doctor may recommend this if you have smoldering myeloma or MGUS, which don’t cause symptoms and may not need treatment.
• Chemotherapy, which shrinks or destroys cancer cells with powerful medications that may be given as a pill or through an IV.
• Immunotherapy (or biological therapy), which activates your immune system to fight cancer cells.
• Radiation therapy, which uses high-energy X-rays to target and kill cancer cells. This option is only used in certain cases.
• Targeted therapy, which uses drugs to target the specific genes or proteins that cancer cells need to grow while preserving healthy cells.

Transplant and Cellular Therapy

As the region’s only comprehensive transplant and cellular therapy center, we bring you access to advanced treatments not available elsewhere, including:

• Bone marrow transplant, also known as stem cell transplant, which replaces diseased cells with healthy blood stem cells. Our state-of-the-art facility offers autologous (self), full-match and half-matched transplants. In just the past four years, we’ve performed over 300 transplants for patients with plasma cell disorders.
• Car T-cell therapy, a type of cellular therapy that supercharges your blood cells to fight cancer. We’re one of only a few cancer care centers nationwide offering CAR T-cell therapy to treat certain types of myeloma through clinical trials.
