Biography
Dr. Michael Rinaldi is an interventional cardiologist and Medical Director of the Structural Heart Program at Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, leading the growth of the largest structural heart program in the Carolinas. He also works as a Professor of Medicine for Atrium Health and UNC-Chapel Hill. Dr. Rinaldi has served as a principal or sub-investigator for more than 60 clinical trials and has authored or co-authored more than 75 publications and 100 abstracts, appearing in journals such as the NEJM, Lancet, JACC and Circulation. He has also presented 200 invited lectures nationally and internationally. Additionally, he has served on faculty at most major cardiovascular conferences in the United States and serves on the DSMB, CEC, case selection, and steering committees of multiple clinical trials.
He has expertise in the fields of coronary, peripheral, and structural heart intervention, including trans-catheter mitral valve repair and replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, transcatheter tricuspid valve repair, and left atrial appendage occlusion. Previously, he served as Sanger’s Medical Director of Research for a decade, building the program to its current portfolio.
