Atrium Health’s Faith Community Health Ministry promotes better health through education, access to healthcare, and encouragement toward wellness and wholeness. By partnering with communities of faith we can more effectively reach that goal.
We embed nurses and health promoters in places of worship across the communities we serve, bridging faith and medicine for better health.
Churches, synagogues, mosques and other places of worship are ideal environments for promoting holistic health. Health ministry can bridge faith and medicine to promote health and wholeness of mind, body and spirit for individuals, congregations and the community.
By appointing a faith community nurse from your congregation to partner with Atrium Health’s established health ministry program, you are continuing the long-held tradition intertwining faith and health. Faith community nursing was formally recognized as a specialty by the American Nurses Association in 1998. A faith community nurse is required to complete an approved basic preparatory training to support holistic health and provide spiritual care in a faith community.
