Addison Kemp May, MD, FACS, is the interim chair in surgical sciences, a professor of surgery and anesthesiology, and director of surgical critical care at Atrium Health. Dr. May was a general surgery resident at University of Virginia Health Sciences and chief resident of general surgery at University of Virginia Health Sciences Center.
Dr. May is currently the president of the Surgical Infection Society and has received the Argus Society Award for Outstanding Faculty and the Barry A. Shapiro Memorial Award for Excellence in Critical Care, given by the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
