Diagnostic Testing

Atrium Health Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine offers exercise testing and pulmonary function testing to detect and diagnose disorders in the lungs and chest.

  • Exercise testing measures your body's functions while riding a stationary bike or walking on a treadmill. It provides information about your breathing patterns, heart function and your general physical condition.
  • Pulmonary function testing measures how well you move air in and out of your lungs and how oxygen moves from your lungs into your blood. These tests include spirometry, lung volume testing and diffusion capacity.
